Very authentic place with a deep atmosphere. Quite smoky place not the best is you have breathe issues. Service is quick and responsive. Food was good. The places is popular, it was a lot of people getting in and out. With and without reservations. I’ll pay them a visit soon to taste more thug of the menu. Kitchen closes late.

Overall the atmosphere here was great. Food was spectacular and there is a menu that helps for English speakers. Mackerel special was beautifully cooked, but overall you won't be disappointed with dining here. Personally, my food highlights from Japan / Tokyo. Service was great and fast given the seating time is two hours and they are strict on it. We went later, so it was easier to stay longer. A must visit spot in a very cool neighbourhood.

Teppen Nakameguro Honten – Izakaya Experience One of the best places to feel the real Japanese Izakaya vibe! Easy online reservation – go around 6pm and don’t miss the fire show before 7pm! You must make reservation!!! Lively atmosphere + super tasty dishes Not only meat & fish, but also lots of vegetable options – plenty of choices for everyone! Orders can be made via staff or QR code menu (with pictures) – so even if you don’t speak Japanese, it’s no problem! Fun, energetic, and a must-visit spot in Nakameguro!

Nakame no Teppen Honten was an unforgettable dining experience that felt both exclusive and theatrical. Entering through a secret door sets the stage for an adventure. The the vibrant energy of the waitresses and chefs adds to the lively atmosphere, making you feel instantly welcomed. The highlight of the meal was the tuna seared with charcoal. The smoky flavor was like no charcoal fish I’ve ever eaten! a simple dish done exceptionally well. Each bite was a testament to the quality and craftsmanship behind the preparation. We also recommend the grilled mackerel, which was expertly cooked and bursting with flavor. Overall, Nakame no Teppen Honten is a 10/10 experience that combines exceptional food, energetic service, and a unique ambiance. If you're in the area, this hidden gem is a must-visit! You need to pre book so make sure you book so you don’t miss out!

The entrance is rather concealed, making tbis feel like a hidden and secret place. Good food and friendly staff. The atmosphere is great and lively, just what an izakaya should be.

Host + Manager: inviting and full of hospitality All Service staff : attentive and fast to respond, excellent service rendered Robatayaki chef : engaging and well focused on food prep + customers Overall an amazing dinner experience that add on to a great human touch . Not surprised that it's a top 10 izakaya in Naka-meguro , do visit and prices are good ; grilled items are fabulous! Will return soon !
